Lady Saves $15,000 just by using coupons
For this month's sweeps story, I interviewed a woman who saved $15,000 last year alone just by using coupons and looking for sales. Many of the items she would get totally free.
It is pretty amazing. If you don't believe me....watch the story by

Surviving an F-4: How a family survived as a tornado ripped apart their home around them
One of the best parts of my job is meeting so many people with such amazing stories.

35 years ago, an F-4 tornado destroyed most of downtown Monticello, Indiana. Gary and Vickie Leonard were starting their life together. It was 1974. Vickie was at home with her two year old Monica, when the F-4 twister screamed across their neighborhood, literally breaking apart their house around them as they hid in the hallway. Monica was lifted away from the house and found alive in a nearby ditch.

The tornado went on to hit the local high school, courthouse, and much of Monticello's downtown - forever changing the city's landscape.

In my report on the Leonards I did something that is very often quite tough to do. When you listen to the piece you will not hear my voice or my narration like reporters often do. The Leonards tell their story too well for me to interject.

This piece is THEIR story. I hope you will be touched by their amazing experience as I was.

A big scare for a second year!
The WLFI viewing area may have dodged a bullet this year. Historic flooding threatened hundreds of homes for a second year in a row. The levels we have seen are expected only once every 100 years, some areas have seen close to those numbers for a third time in one year.

Here is a very visual story I did this year in Winimac, Indiana as they dealt with the historic water levels.

Job Loss, leaving no one behind
It seems every day we hear a news story of another factory laying off employees or a company downsizing because of the economy. These stories, while disheartening, don't seem to really hit us until it happens to someone we know. Just in the last week I found out about two people I know losing their jobs. There are so many questions people are facing now that they never had to face before.

"What do I do now?" "How will I pay my bills?" There are just so many questions.

Yesterday I got the chance to meet some people recently layed off from their jobs meeting together as part of a job loss support group.

In the group were three people at various stages of life. One was a former Director of Operations for an international consulting firm. His wife stayed home. He now had to find a new way to support his family.

The second was a single woman who had worked as a chemist at the same company for more than 20 year. She too was out of work.

The third, a welder at a semi-trailer factory.

All three people in different stages of life, all brought together by a common bond. No matter what they did before or how much they made, now because of the economy, they were all at the same level: unemployed.

But they held close to each other supporting the others in the group even while they fought their own battles.

It is such an encouragement. The three still say they don't put their faith in what they do as a profession, they put their faith in God alone.

It is an interesting model we all may want to consider as we continue to learn that there is no recession proof career.

Starting off...
The truth...

Well, here it is: the truth. I have never been a huge blogger. But I want to share a little deeper, maybe a few thoughts, into some of the stories I cover each day.
