Job Loss, leaving no one behind

It seems every day we hear a news story of another
factory laying off employees or a company downsizing
because of the economy. These stories, while
disheartening, don't seem to really hit us until it
happens to someone we know. Just in the last week I
found out about two people I know losing their jobs.
There are so many questions people are facing now
that they never had to face before.
"What do I do now?" "How will I pay my bills?" There are just so many questions.
Yesterday I got the chance to meet some people recently layed off from their jobs meeting together as part of a job loss support group.
In the group were three people at various stages of life. One was a former Director of Operations for an international consulting firm. His wife stayed home. He now had to find a new way to support his family.
The second was a single woman who had worked as a chemist at the same company for more than 20 year. She too was out of work.
The third, a welder at a semi-trailer factory.
All three people in different stages of life, all brought together by a common bond. No matter what they did before or how much they made, now because of the economy, they were all at the same level: unemployed.
But they held close to each other supporting the others in the group even while they fought their own battles.
It is such an encouragement. The three still say they don't put their faith in what they do as a profession, they put their faith in God alone.
It is an interesting model we all may want to consider as we continue to learn that there is no recession proof career.
